Products I Love Using

The Vita-Mix
It took me a few years to decide to buy the Vita-Mix, since spending over $400 for a counter top appliance was not even a consideration. I saw it several times at Costco, where the demo guy made soup by adding lot's of vegetables and zapping them for 5 minutes. I saw him make ice cream out of fresh fruit. It all looked great, but I still couldn't justify spending $400.

One afternoon, Suzi, one of my healthy and fit friends came over for lunch. She brough over her Vita-Mix and made a drink with red cabbage and who knows what else. It tasted great, but I still wasn't going to spend $400. A year or so later, Rick, one of my clients had colon cancer. He got healthy by turning all of his fruits and vegetables into drinks and soups in the Vita-Mix. He carried around his jug of hot brocolli soup and sipped it all day long. Today he is vibrant and cancer free! I still wasn't ready to spend the $400.

Do I sound cheap? I now think of all the money I spent in resaurants and on 7-11 Slurpees over that time period. I could have used that money to buy several Vita-Mixers!!!!!

I knew that a Vita-Mix could help me in getting healthy. I hate eating more than one salad a day. I hate paying $12.00 for a restaurant salad. The vegetarian plates at most restaurants are just plain weird!! I like fresh fruit, but I don't like juice dripping all over my work clothes. Pure fruit juices spike my blood sugar. I've never been able to drink a V-8.....it reminds me of vampire movies!! I do love drinking anything cold and icy. The Vita-Mix really is the perfect appliance for me.

I finally announced on Facebook that I wanted to buy a Vita-Mix. I wanted to find out what experiences my friends might have had with the Vita-Mix. Suggestions included buying one that fits under the upper cabinet from QVC at $345 or purchasing a similar machine by Montel Williams for $200. On the day I decided to place the order, Mike, a business friend gifted me with the Vita-Mix that was sitting in his garage. His family used it and it didn't fit their cooking lifestyle. Actually it sounded more like they got tired of their teenagers wasting food by overcooking smoothies in the Vita-Mix. HUGE THANKS!!!!

So here are my loving suggestions:If you have to use a regular blender, then dice up all of the recipe ingredients and use crushed ice!!
If you would like to join me on this journey to health, if you can swing the cash, buy a new one!!!
If you can't buy a new one, put the word out to everyone you know because someone just might have one sitting in their storage shed with your name on it!!!!

The 440 XL Talking Scale....It also comes in 550 pounds

This talking scale is my new best friend!!! If you have a friend or family member who weighs over 250 pounds or is morbidly obese, this scale could be a lifesaver!!! Please consider giving it to them as a gift. If you are afraid that they might throw it at you, please gift it anonymously. You could save their life!

One thing that average weight people don't realize, is that most home bathroom scales do not go over 250 pounds. I've heard of people straddling two scales to weigh themselves, but that's nuts!! If you are that fat, you probably also have poor balance!! This scale costs under $50.00 on Amazon.

Doctors office scales top out at 250 pounds or 350 pounds. If someone weighs more than that, they just put a "+" sign on the chart and ignore it. Who wants to go to the Doctor everytime they need to weigh?

Many Gyms and Health Spas have scales that top out at 250 pounds. The truth is that they don't want morbidly obese people in their gym. They don't want to be responsible for them!!!

My friend Cathy, a very bold Chubby Chick, weighed herself weekly at her Veterinarians office on the large animal scale. This worked for her until the Vet Techs got grumpy over her coming to the office without her dogs!! Cathy is the friend who first discovered this scale and introduced it to me.

The idea of the scale saying my weight out loud was a little uncomfortable. I didn't want the family to hear that I weigh over my 128 pound fantasy weight. I solved that by shouting, "stay out, I'm naked" and turning on the TV!!

The ability to weigh yourself gives you the ability to be accontable to yourself. It gives you control.
I only weigh myself in the morning when I feel good, before a shower, after the potty and naked!!
I do not weigh myself every day or at a set time each week. As women, we know our heavy days!! There is no way I will ever get on a scale and enjoy PMS!!! I'm also not weighing myself the day after a high sodium restaurant meal!!

I weigh myself when I feel like I've made some progress and I want to celebrate!! I enjoy hearing the voice on my scale say "I'm ready......you weigh.........ha, ha, ha.........NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!"

Anchor Hocking or Pyrex Glass Bakeware
As A child, I thought that my mother took great delight in having us scrub her baking dishes with steel-wool Brillo! She rarely used the oven. She never roasted her own turkey or chickens. Once a month she made Shake-N-Bake Chicken or Shake-N-Bake Porkchops. She lined the pan with tin foil. She must have also hated scrubbing pans!

I find that if I roast my meats and vegetable in the oven, I use less fat and make less mess. I hate the taste of tin foil!! I HATE dealing with boiling water when steaming vegetables!!

I am not so much a lazy cook, as a "limited time" kitchen cleaner-upper!

What I love about the Anchor Hocking or Pyrex baking dishes is that they are easy to clean, pretty enough to serve out of and any leftovers can go straight into the fridge to be reheated the next day!
